My project for senior design is to test and analyze the effects of high impact solar voltaic penetration on electrical distribution systems. This means that we will be using a software program called OpenDss to analyze different distribution systems to see how they will handle the addition of community, or residential based solar panels. We will determine if they can handle it, and if not, what needs to be done to make the system compatible.
My job in the team is communications. I am in charge of looking at making sure that we are all on the same page, that our advisor is informed, and that the senior design instructor also knows what is going on. I also work with the rest of the team to run the simulations, and analyze the data that we get from OpenDss.
