Electronic and visual Mode

The electronic/visual mode was one of my favorite modes. The mode allowed us to go dive into a topic that was interesting to us and that we were passionate about. This mode also allowed us to present all the skill we have gained through out the semester!

In the beginnings of writing this, it was very difficult for me because I was unsure what kind of message I wanted to get across while presenting this argument. What I struggled most with was deciding whether I wanted to focus more on informing the audience about what factory farming is and its history (past present and future), or if I wanted to focus more on how factory farms are run and the steps that we can take to support more ethical businesses. I decided to take the second approach because after drafting ideas, I realized that is what I was more passionate about. I then had to figure out how to structure it to get the greatest effect across. To do this, I used the method that I found worked best for me through out the semester, I wrote out most all of my paragraphs and then figured out how they flowed best together. Once I had my structure, I was able to start shaping a thesis sentence and introduction. To finish up this work, I used all of the tools that I had gained throughout this class. I used ethos, pathos and logos in informing and then persuading the audience to feel for the animals and chose a more ethical alternative choice.

I Incorporated the visual mode by inserting multiple pictures and a video at the end. The addition of these visuals enhanced this work by giving the audience something physical that they could reference and see first hand what I was speaking to in the paper.  (The full Document can be seen on page 2.)

This mode of communication is one of my best works. Being able to pick a topic that I was truly interested in made this paper one of my favorites and I think that showed in the final outcome of it. I think being able to research something that you truly want to know more about and care about, allows you to then want to spend more time learning and forming an opinion on it which reflects in the paper. This was the first piece that I have personally used the visual mode in my work and I believe that it made the paper much stronger. There is always revisions and improvements that can be made such as including more background on factory farming as a business and why it started or adding in more current business and organizations are taking to stop factory farming. But this work was one of my favorites to write and I believe that it demonstrated many of the skill that I have acquired over this course!
