I need to be able to work with others to make our shows look great and to be in the correct spot\u00a0otherwise the whole band looks bad.<\/p>\n<h2>Salt Company<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.isucomm.iastate.edu\/ecole\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2359\/2016\/09\/salt-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-357 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.isucomm.iastate.edu\/ecole\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2359\/2016\/09\/salt-1.jpg\" alt=\"salt\" width=\"81\" height=\"81\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.isucomm.iastate.edu\/ecole\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2359\/2016\/09\/salt-1.jpg 744w, https:\/\/sites.isucomm.iastate.edu\/ecole\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2359\/2016\/09\/salt-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/sites.isucomm.iastate.edu\/ecole\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2359\/2016\/09\/salt-1-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 81px) 100vw, 81px\" \/><\/a>The Salt Company is the collegiate student ministry of Cornerstone church in Ames, Iowa. \u00a0Through Salt I lead a\u00a0small group of five to seven students called a connection group that meets on a weekly\u00a0basis. \u00a0Leading a connection group has improved my\u00a0communication and\u00a0organization\u00a0skills \u00a0teaching me how to facilitate an effective\u00a0discussion.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Gaffer&#8217;s Guild<\/h2>\n<p>I am currently an executive member and teacher for the Iowa State Gaffer&#8217;s Guild or more commonly known as the glass blowing club. \u00a0As a Gaffer I get to work with 1000\u00b0C molten glass and shape it into many different pieces. I have made paperweights, cups, swans, vases and many other nic nacs. \u00a0We hold multiple events over the semester and I have learned how to organize and create events for a large group. \u00a0Our studio is being demolished this year and will be shut down for about three years. Due to the shut down\u00a0I helped plan many events to make large amounts of pieces that the club can sell while we are without a studio.<\/p>\n<p>In the spring of 2016 I became a teacher for the beginner classes for the guild. \u00a0I teach students and community members how to safely use the studio to make glass pieces. \u00a0 Teaching has helped me learn how to explain concepts and techniques that I have learned to people who have never experienced glass work. My ability to verbalize different techniques and my thought processes has improved dramatically as teacher.<\/p>\n<h3>Tau Beta Pi<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.isucomm.iastate.edu\/ecole\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2359\/2016\/09\/Screen-Shot-2016-09-19-at-8.42.11-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-350 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.isucomm.iastate.edu\/ecole\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2359\/2016\/09\/Screen-Shot-2016-09-19-at-8.42.11-AM.png\" alt=\"screen-shot-2016-09-19-at-8-42-11-am\" width=\"58\" height=\"92\" \/><\/a>I am\u00a0a member of the Iowa Alpha Tau Beta Pi all engineering honors society. \u00a0In order to be in inducted into Tau Beta Pi I had to be within the top eighth of my junior class\u00a0and help the community by\u00a0participating in an\u00a0adopting a highway event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marching Band I am a four year member of the Iowa State University Cyclone Football \u201cVarsity\u201d Marching Band!
